RIP Oscar, our beautiful boofy boy. 💔 💔 😢 He was chief meet & greet dog for all our campers & visitors to the farm. He was bitten by a snake a few weeks ago, & we thought we had got to him in time. But the snake venom had already done the damage. Oscar will be greatly missed by us all. 😢 😢 #loveyourdog #besnakeaware #hugyourdog today #brokenheart

Our last free open farm day for 2022 is coming up

Our last free open farm day for 2022 is coming up this Sunday 18th December 9 am to 4pm. Visit the farm to learn how we grow our award winning capers. Unfortunately it has not been very good weather so far this season for growing capers. We’ll do paddock tours, feed the alpacas, morning or afternoon tea will be available & light lunches on offer. The farm shop will be open with our caper products for sale. Make a day of it, come for a drive. Up the road from @mulanah_gardens and @chrissytrees4 . Next opportunity to visit the farm will be October 2023.

Open farm this Sunday 20 November - 9am to 4pm. Lots & lots of these beautiful everlasting daisies everywhere (thanks to all the rain this year)! It’s free to come and say hi, feed the alpacas (at 11.30 am & 3 pm), wander the caper paddock or even feel free to pull some caper paddock weeds! Morning & afternoon tea $8, light lunches and tasting plates $15. Allan has been busy keeping the paddock mowed & looks great. Only 1 more Open Farm day after this one to end 2022 out. (next one is 18th December). We’re just up the road from @chrissytrees4 and @mulanah_gardens so head out for a Sunday drive.

Finally we have started picking capers, by hand of course. Weeks later than previous years, as the weather has been so wet and temperatures so cool. Not really happy caper growing conditions. Caperberries will not be picked off the bushes until well into January, if the daytime temperatures stay above 30 degrees. It’s not looking promising though, but we are keeping our fingers crossed 🤞. We will harvest while the sun shines 🌞

The morning tea is nearly done, the Chrissy tree looks amazing and our last open farm day for 2021 closes at 4pm. There’s some White chocolate & raspberry cake & Sour cream passionfruit slice & the usual pumpkin scones, and I even made Christmas fudge! Of course there’s rum balls that are awesome too. If there’s any left Allan gets them all!

Open Farm day - this Sunday 19th December 9am to 4pm. Come & visit us to see how green it is at Bunya Red Farm, or for morning tea under the trees in the cool. The caper paddock is a bit ordinary after all this rain plus a hail storm last week. But never fear, it’s Christmas time, & we are out in the open with plenty of room. Morning or afternoon tea is $7.50 including scones. The farm shop is open with some caper goodies available. Farm tour with tasting plate $12 pp (over 16) or just sit under the tree & take in the views. Check in is required, and we are open. Merry Christmas to everyone who has been waiting & waiting. Our online shop is now open and ready to go. Stocks are limited (really) as all it has done for the last 6 weeks is rain, & just now a quick hailstorm! 2021/22 season is not looking too good for quantity of capers & caperberries. Our Branston Pickles have made it to the website too. We may as well cook while it’s been raining. We will ship out your order quickly, and Australia Post will have to do their bit. Our farm shop is open on the farm too. Thank you for your support, it is greatly appreciated. 🤓👨‍🌾

It’s a bit damp in the caper paddock still! Allan managed to bog little “Red” (the tractor). There’s a big clean up after the wet, and not many capers or caperberries in the last few weeks of cool, wet & humid weather. Bring on the sunshine. 🤓👨‍🌾 ☀️ ☀️
